Sara Collins Playground Rules
- The horizontal ladders should be used to build up upper body strength.
Always cross the bars going the same direction. Never sit or jump off of the
top of the bars.
- Always sit while going down the slide. Running, standing or walking on the
slide are not allowed.
- The tunnel is made to climb through. Do not sit or climb on top of it.
- Wait your turn to climb up the climbing walls. Never climb right under
someone.
- The mulch is under the equipment to protect you in case you fall. Do not
play in the mulch or throw it.
- If the weather is hot, feel the slide with the back of your hand. If it is
too hot to hold your hand on it for 30-45 seconds, it is too hot to slide
down.
- Never jump or do flips off of the top of the equipment.
- Use equipment only for the intended purpose.
- Take turns and do not block up the equipment by just sitting on it.
- If you need help, ask your teacher to help you.
- Please do not play tag or chase in the equipment area.
- The track is approximately 1/5 of a mile. Have fun exercising on it.
Runners should stay on the inside of the track and walkers on the outside. Be
courteous to others and do not block the track by walking in large groups.
- If you see that a piece of equipment is broken, report it to the office.
- When using the fitness equipment, read the signs and follow the
directions. The pictures illustrate the correct technique.
- Have fun be active!
Adapted Playground Equipment (for children with physical disabilities)
- Only students with physical disabilities can use this playground.
- Students must be with an aid or teacher.
- Only students in wheelchairs can use the wheelchair swing.
- Make sure that children who need helmets are wearing them.
- No chairs are allowed on the special ed. playground. Adults must be moving
with the students to supervise them.
- Adults will receive training the first 3 days of school on loading
students and using the wheelchair swing correctly.
