Reading Season has Begun!
Help your child qualify to win Palmetto Bowl tickets by participating in the Read Your Way to the Big Game contest. Entering is simple! Make sure your child reads six reading-level appropriate books, complete the book list, and return it to your child's teacher by November 10th for a chance to win. More information coming home soon, but you can learn more here. Pick a team: Clemson or Carolina and start reading today!
Reflections is a nationwide PTA arts recognition and achievement program in which all of our students here at Pelham Road Elementary are eligible to participate. Although the program does follow a “contest” format, the main goal of the program is participation, not winning.
This year’s theme is “Let Your Imagination Fly” and there are six arts areas in which students may participate: Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, and Film/Video Production.
Students are divided and judged in 2 different age groups: K-2 and 3-5. We encourage every student to enter as many times as they would like. All participants will be featured on our morning show as well as a poster in the main hall of the school. They will also be recognized in the awards ceremony at the end of the year. Students placing in first, second, or third place will receive ribbons. For program rules summary click here or go to the South Carolina PTA website www.scpta.org and click on Leaders, then Reflections. You can also go to the National PTA website at www.pta.org.
Student entry forms are available here.
Pelham Road PTA
Please consider joining the PTA! We have had 100% participation for over 30 years - let's keep the tradition going! Stay tuned for information on upcoming programs and fundraisers. Our goal is to continue purchasing new technology for the classrooms. For all of the latest on PRES, check out the PTA website:www.pelhamrdpta.my-pta.org and/or join the Facebook group AllStars of PRE. We still have several open chair positions for this year. If you are interested in helping with Spring Fling, Housewise/Streetwise, Reflections, Art Night, or SEEDS please email Deanna Burdette at email@example.com.
Online Free and Reduced Lunch Applications Now Available
Online Free and Reduced Meal applications can be accessed here. This is the fastest and most accurate method for applying for Free or Reduced Priced Meals. The grace period for the 2015-16 school year will end on September 25, 2015. The grace period is the amount of time students are allowed to remain on the prior year’s free and reduced status. This time period allows sufficient time for parents to complete their applications for the current year.
Car Line Tips
Please make sure to hang your car tag from your review mirror when coming through the carpool line. Anyone without an official Pelham Road tag will be asked to go inside and show identification before a student will be released.
Each new family will be provided 2 tags. Returning families will be supplied one tag. Additional tags may be purchased through the front office for $3.00. Click here for tag order form.
Dismissal will start at 2:30. Students should be picked up no later than 2:45.
To help ensure a speedy car line, please do the following:
- Have your car tag visible and ready before you get into the car line.
- If you do not have your car tag, please be prepared to go into the office and show identification.
- Paper numbers will not be accepted this year.
- Please do not use your cell phone when the line is moving.
- Do not switch lanes unless directed to do so.
