Paris Elementary PTA

Welcome to Paris!

The PTA at Paris is an active participant in the education of children at Paris.  We volunteer in classrooms, assist teachers in preparing materials for instruction, and raise money to fund special things.  Mr. Wise describes us as "legendary" because of our history of involvement in the school.

The "P" in PTA stands for "Parent," and your children need you to be involved.  Everyone can be involved in some way - if you have thirty minutes, half a day, or all week!  Paris is a warm, friendly school, and we want you to feel welcomed and connected.  The more parents are involved, the stronger Paris is as a school, and the better it will be for our children.

To find your niche, contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Mrs. Shelley Kender (skender@klgjones.com or 370-8090) or one of our 2010-2011 PTA Officers listed below.  We would love to hear from you, and we look forward to working alongside you for the betterment of our children at Paris!

Paws on Paris - New and Improved!

It's NOT TOO LATE to be a part of the New & Improved PAWS on Paris!  We already have families (Poe, Swartzel, Ward, Mathis) as well as a Girl Scout Troop who have adopted a zone.  If you would like to be involved in helping to keep Paris a clean and neat school, please consider adopting a designated area to maintain at your convenience.

Zones:

  • Front of school

  • Sign by the carline entrance

  • Kindergarten playground

  • Benches around front trees

Contact Mrs. Dana Swartzel (rdswartzel@charter.net or 420-2462) to reserve your zone or for more information.

Adoptions will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis!  Click to see the opportunities available.  Adopt a zone today!

Adopt a Classroom
Did you know that teachers spend an average of $1,200 of their own money each year to purchase materials for their classrooms?  Did you know that every teacher affects 3,000 students in their professional lifetime?

Adopt-a-Classroom has a goal to end teacher-funded classrooms.  It allows you to give a tax-deductible gift to a classroom which in turn can be used by the teacher to buy classroom materials, most at a reduced cost, from a list of participating vendors.  You get to see what was bought and from where, and 100% of your gift goes to the classroom.

Find out more at adoptaclassroom.org or download a donor form here.

Holiday Fair

The Second Annual Holiday Fair on Tuesday, November 29, was great fun! Door prizes were drawn every 15 minutes. A variety of vendors were on hand - jewelry, candles, home decor, and more! All proceeds from the Holiday Fair benefitted the PAWS (Paris taking Action for the Wellness of Student) Fund. This fund is used to help families from Paris who are in need.

The Holiday Fair was a great way to share your products with the community just in time for holiday shopping. We look forward to next year's event!

Contact Mrs. Amanda Cox (acranecox@yahoo.com) for more information!

Report Volunteer Hours
When you sign in as a volunteer at school, the time you spend is automatically recorded.  If you volunteer in some way at Paris this year that does not involve signing in, please be sure you have recorded your volunteer hours by using the Paris website OR by sending the information to Mrs. Shelley Kender, Volunteer Chair, at skender@klgjones.com.  Remember volunteer hours count for anything you did for the school -   such as baking, shopping for items you purchased, and phone calls.
