SC/NSPRA's Rewards for excellence program recognizes outstanding communications and public relations efforts by schools, school districts and education agencies and associations. the Rewards for Excellence Program features three awards programs: Publications and Electronic Media (annual reports, handbooks, marketing materials, newsletters/newspapers, special purpose publications, electronic media and internet home pages), Golden Achievement (for a project that represents an aspect of an overall public relations program), and Medallion (for a comprehensive, well-planned program that addresses internal and external audiences with mass and interpersonal techniques). All entries are judged using standardized criteria and are not judged in comparison to other entries.

In April 2007, Oakview Elementary School received an Honorable Mention Award from the South Carolina Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (SCNSPRA). There were 178 entries competing for the Publications and Electronic Media Award for Excellence.

On April 28, 2006, Oakview Elementary School received a Publications and Electronic Media Award from the South Carolina Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (SCNSPRA).  Stephanie Nichols, Media Specialist and Web Master, represented Oakview at the Rewards for Excellence banquet held at the Columbia Marriott in our state capital.  The award is presented to web sites whose web design, originality and content have achieved levels of excellence deserving of professional recognition by the association.

2009 School Webmaster's Choice Award

Third Grade teacher Jena Jones has won the 2009 School Webmaster's Choice Awards for her teacher website for the second year. This special award only goes out to a few outstanding websites every year.
