Principal- Dr. Phillip Reavis
I became principal at Oakview Elementary
School in 2001-2002. I was drawn to the Oakview school community by its
reputation for strong partnerships in education. Involved parents, eager
students, a professional and caring faculty/staff, and tremendous support
from business partners are all evident. I am honored to be a part of the
Oakview team!
I completed my bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill and received a Masters Degree in School Counseling from the
University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I earned my Education Specialist
Degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from Converse College. In December
of 2007, I received my doctoral degree from University of South
Carolina in Educational Leadership and Supervision.
Since beginning my career as an educator, I was named Teacher of the Year
for the Iredell-Statesville School System in Statesville, North Carolina in
the 1991-1992 school year. To deepen my understanding of education, I
traveled to Germany during the summer of 1998 to observe in the Bavarian
schools, considered to be some of the best in Europe. Through these, and
many other experiences, I join the Oakview community in fulfilling its
mission of providing a quality education for children. It is truly exciting
to see what can happen at a school when everyone works together to create a
"habitat for learning!"
I feel that the bottom line for any principal should always be the students.
In making any decision about curriculum, school programs, etc., the impact
on students should always be considered first. I count it a privilege to
serve as Oakview's principal and look forward to working along side the
students, faculty and parents as we continue to achieve excellence in
education in Greenville County. |
