To Open Your Combination
Lock
Welcome back to
school for another term. Some of you are new to Northwest and you will need
to learn how to work the combination lock for your locker. Others may need a
little refresher. At Northwest you will be issued an American Brand
combination lock. The lock has a dial with 40 calibration marks numbered 0
to 39. A combination consists of 3 of these numbers; for example: 32-22-12.
To open the lock, the following steps are taken:

turn the dial clockwise to the right 2 full turns

stop at the first number of the combination 32
-
turn the dial counter-clockwise to the left 1 full turn
-
continue turning counter-clockwise until the 2nd number 22 is reached
-
turn the dial clockwise back to the right again until the 3rd number 12
is reached
-
pull the shank and the lock will open.
