Census
2010 –
It is VERY important that Greenville County
citizens be counted in the 2010 Census.
Why important? South Carolina was 49th of
50 states in the Census response rate, resulting
in our state (and School Districts) not
receiving millions of dollars in federal
funding. The Census is used in various ways,
including:
-
Helping determine how more than $400 billion
per year in federal funding is distributed
to state, local and tribal governments.
-
Guiding local planning decisions, including
where to provide additional services, build
new roads, job training centers, etc.
-
Reapportioning congressional seats and
assuring proper district representation in
all levels of government.
