Old News...

This year the MRES chorus students  are participating in a community service project.
They will be collecting canned foods  to donate to a local charity
as well as caroling at Patewood Medical and the fire station. The chorus would like
to encourage all students to support them by bringing in a canned food item
on Dec. 12, 2012 at the Chorus caroling concert. The caroling concert will take
place during the school day. Chorus students will sing carols and students will be invited
to join in. Thank you for supporting the Mitchell Road Chorus and their community service project.

President Obama’s annual back-to-school message to students across the nation will be broadcast on Wednesday, September 28, at 1:30 p.m. At Mitchell Road Elementary we will record the President’s message. Individual classes will view at a later date as part of an instruction related study such as role of the President. Student viewing and class discussions will be related to the curriculum. Viewing the speech is optional for students. In previous years, the President encouraged students to work hard, to set education goals, and to take responsibility for their learning. As our school system’s long-standing practice, parents can “opt out” their children from instruction. Students “opting out” of viewing the President’s speech will be provided other learning opportunities. If you do not want your child to view the President’s speech and participate in classroom discussion, please e-mail your child’s teacher or send in a note.
