School Improvement Council (SIC)

School Improvement Councils are found in every school as mandated by state law.  The purpose of the SIC is to work effectively with the school and its principal to open new areas of opportunity to the school and its community.

The Role of the SIC is to:

Recommend: Consider a problem and find a solution in the form of a recommendation.

Inform: Keep the community aware of the plans and programs being initiated in the school.

Clarify: Find appropriate ways to counter misinformation or rumor with facts.

Suggest: Informally advise a course of action as a solution to a minor or temporary difficulty.

Evaluate: Weigh the pros and cons of an issue and discuss, informally, the effectiveness of the school.

Inquire: Obtain suggestions, questions, and/or criticisms from all segments of the  community.

Plan: Long-range goals for the school system should start at the school level, using recommendations of the SIC.

Recruit: As liaison persons, help locate from the community, school volunteers, task force committees, PTA members, Booster Club members, and resource people with special expertise.
