Welcome!
From your PTSA President
Kelly Yanity
Hello and welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! We’re off to a great start – your new PTA board has been working hard over the summer to ensure that everything is in place as we start this new year.
We have an exciting year ahead of us! If you haven’t yet been able to get involved at MHS or this is your first year here – this is your opportunity! We want you – both as a volunteer AND a PTSA member. You will be receiving a PTSA Volunteer Form in a packet that will come home with your student on the first day of school. Please complete the form and let us know where you would like to be involved. Research studies have proven that parent involvement is the best predictor of student success.
Last year, with help from many of you, the PTSA was able to support our school by purchasing Promethean boards and Activotes, which greatly enhance classroom learning. We provided grants to teachers to purchase needed supplies for their classrooms that improve their teaching efforts. In addition, we were able to bring Challenge Day to MHS. Challenge Day was an extremely successful and fulfilling day that provided students with a program demonstrating the possibility of connection through diversity, truth, and full expression. I am pleased to announce that Challenge Day will be back this year, and we will be hosting more than one day.
The PTSA provides you with an excellent avenue through which to get involved. We recognize that in order for you to take an active role in PTSA projects, we must communicate with you in an effective and timely manner. The PTSA board is committed to do just that. Check out our on-line notices under the PTSA tab on the school website and subscribe to the Stampede e-newsletter on the website to have information e-mailed to you each week. If you still have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact a PTSA board member listed in this bulletin. We’re here to serve you and our school!
It’s going to be a fun and busy year so enjoy the first days and weeks of school. We all know how time flies! This new school year is full of wonderful possibilities for our students and our school. I’m very excited to get this year underway and I look forward to working with all of you.
Thanks so much for your support,
Kelly Yanity, PTSA President
