Mauldin girls soccer falls just short
5/25/2011, Tribune-Times

For the third time in four seasons, the Mauldin High girls soccer team ended its season with a one-goal loss to Wando in the state championship match. The good news for the Mavericks is that this year's team had just four seniors and only two senior starters. Most of the team will be back, and Mauldin coach Kevin Czar said the Mavericks' narrow defeat could serve as motivation.

Mavericks celebrate season, future
5/18/2011, Tribune-Times

There’s a typical description for a sports team that follows a championship season with a roster stocked with young players: rebuilding year. Mauldin’s softball team turned that thinking upside down in 2011, however, by following their state championship season of a year ago with a 26-4 record, a region championship, and a berth in the Upper State tournament.

Mavericks attempt to extend season
5/11/2011, Tribune-Times

It is getting to be an all too familiar situation for the Mauldin High softball team. The Mavericks, defending state champions, went into this week once again facing elimination from the Class AAAA playoffs. Mauldin hosted Hillcrest on Monday, and the winner of that game continued to play while the loser was out.

The Mauldin High girls soccer team has been to the state championship game for three consecutive years. Coach Kevin Czar says this year’s team is the best he has had assembled.

Parent/Coach Relationship

Here at MHS, it is the goal of our coaching staff to provide a highly positive experience for both our student athletes and their parents. Please read the document below to understand the expectations of the Parent/Coach relationship here at MHS.

Title IX

Many have asked about Title IX in regard to the MHS athletic booster club reorganization. Please review the following documents if you have questions.

Eligibilty

In order to participate in interscholastic activities, students must be academically eligible.

A student, while participating, must be taking a minimum of four academic courses, or their equivalent, for which no previous credit has been received. A student who is repeating a course for which he has previously received credit cannot count this course as one of the four required for eligibility. This is considered as auditing a course.

To participate in interscholastic athletic activities, students in grades 9-12 must achieve an overall passing average in addition to the following:

To be eligible in the first semester a student must pass a minimum of five Carnegie units applicable toward a high school diploma during the previous year. At least two units must have been passed during the second semester or Summer School.

To be eligible during the second semester, the student must meet one of the following conditions:

Students eligible for a first semester sport will be permitted to complete that sport even if it extends into the second semester. Under the current League program, this will apply to participants in basketball and wrestling.

High School Athletic Insurance

All participants of high school athletic programs are required to purchase athletic insurance through the school. Students will not be allowed to either practice or become a member of the team without this coverage. Because this policy is mandatory it covers only injuries received during practice for or participating in a high school sport.

This required policy should not be confused with the school time/ 24-hour plan which is optional and covers all school time injuries including all athletic injuries except football. Again, the athletic insurance is mandatory while the school time/24 hour plan is optional.

Attendance Requirements to Participate

To participate in a game, you must be in attendance at school at least one/half of the day (2 entire class periods) on the day of a game.
