Summer Seniors at USC

High achieving African-American rising seniors may apply to attend the Summer Seniors at USC program and spend four days learning and living on USC's campus July 11 - 14. The experience is free to accepted participants who will learn how to navigate the college selection process even if the student does not plan to attend USC. Application deadline is June 8, 2012. Muse- Literary Magazine 2011-2012

The 2011-2012 Creative Writing class presents Mauldin High School's virtual arts magazine. This issue of Muse is filled with poetry, prose, creative non-fiction, art, and photography and represents entries from the entire school.

The Creative Writing students used mixbook.com, an interactive Web 2.0 application, to create a showcase for student talent in the visual and literary arts.

Important Senior Reminders:

The Greenville County Online Survey is due May 25th. Please go online and fill out that form, you can find the survey here. After reading the instruction, click on “Start Survey”. Only complete one survey.

The survey that Mrs. Kelsey gave you last week needs to be turned in by May 18th, you can drop that survey off in the front of guidance. This information will allow Mrs. Kelsey to release your final transcript. If you misplace the survey, please go to the following link to retrieve the paperwork. Thank you!

Underclassmen Exam Schedule

May 25- 1st & 6th period exams
May 29- 2nd & 5th period exams
May 30- 3rd & 4th period exams (1/2 Day)
May 31- 7th period & make-up exams (1/2 Day)
June 1- Make-up exams

Exam Attendance

No early dismissals or late arrivals are allowed during exam times. Students must have a medical excuse or Administrative approval in order to makeup an exam. Students who have approval to makeup exams will have the opportunity to makeup the exam after all other exams are completed.

Student Medication Reminders

No 2012-2013 school year medications will be accepted without the properly completed forms. Students are not allowed to carry any over-the-counter or prescription medicine without the properly completed forms. For your child's safety, prescription medications that cause drowsiness must be taken at home, not at school.

Parents and students are also reminded to pick up medications in the healthroom before the last day of school. Any leftover medication will be destroyed over the summer.

Graduation Dress Code

Ladies – a dress (limit what can be seen from under the gown) and black dress shoes. No tennis shoes.

Gentlemen – dress pants, khakis are ok, dark dress shoes, no tennis shoes, flip flops, or light colored sperries. A tie and light colored dress shirt with a collar.

No student can wear any cord, medal etc, unless it is academic and issued by Mauldin.

Alive at 25 Classes

Alive at 25 is a survival course developed by the National Safety Council and is required to receive a parking pass at Mauldin High School. It is designed to prevent the #1 killer of teens, automobile crashes. SC Alive at 25 is taught by off-duty Deputy Sheriffs, Municipal Police Officers and SC Highway Patrol Officers. The $35.00 course is delivered in one 4.5 hour program which focuses on the behaviors, decision-making and risks facing young drivers every time they get behind the wheel. This summer, classes will be offered from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm in the Media Center of MHS on the following dates:

June 14
June 28
July 12
July 26
August 4
August 9

Spirit Week 2013 Applications

Mauldin High School Student Council is now taking applications for the 2013 Spirit Week. Please download the application, complete it, and submit it by June 1, 2012.
