Tardy Policy
Tardies to School Students should strive to arrive at school each day on time. Tardies, as well as absences, are a part of the student's permanent record and thus can reflect negatively on a student's overall performance. Students will be marked tardy if they are not in their first period classes when the tardy bell rings or the time is announced on the intercom. Students arriving before 8:30 a.m. must report directly to their first period class. Students arriving after 8:30 a.m. must report immediately to the attendance office. Tardies will be classified as excused or unexcused by the attendance clerk and indicated on a late permission slip. Immediately upon entering the classroom, the student will give the permission slip to the teacher. Students should bring a parent note explaining the tardy, and the attendance clerk should maintain a record. Refer to Student Agenda for penalties. Class-to-Class Tardies 1st tardy to class = warning to behavior log 2nd tardy to class = warning to behavior log 3rd tardy to class = parent phone call 4th tardy to class = refer to grade level administrator, 1 hour ISS and parent phone call 5th and 6th tardies to class = refer to grade level administrator, 4 hours ISS and parent conference 7th and 8th tardies to class = refer to grade level administrator, full day ISS and parent conference 9th tardy and thereafter to class = refer to grade level administrator, out-of-school suspension Late Buses Students arriving on a late bus will not be marked tardy, but will be admitted with a bus pass.
