Kerns Elementary PBIS PageWhat is PBIS?PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention Supports. PBIS is a positive program that teaches students behavior expectations in all areas of the school (Click here for school wide matrix). Training on these behaviors occurs school wide at the beginning of the year, in January and after Spring Break. Expectations are re taught as needed on individual and class basis. Incentives are given to students and classes that meet the expectations. Incentives at TEK include WOWs and PURR PAWs. What is a WOW?WOWs are given to classes that are meeting behavior expectations. The entire class must be meeting the expectations to get a WOW. When a class earns 5 WOWs they begin climbing Mount Pride. As classes climb Mount Pride they earn prizes and parties for the whole class. Mount Pride is located by the cafeteria for all students and teachers to see.
What are PURR Paws?PURR Paws are given individually to students who are showing our PURR expectations. PURR stands for Performing with an Understanding of Respect and Responsibility (see school wide matrix and individual teacher matrix). Students can earn PURR paws from any staff member. Students collect these PURR Paws to spend at the Paws Are Us Store. Their Paws also go into a raffle at the end of the quarter.
