Thomas E. Kerns - Our History

Thomas E. Kerns is named in honor of former Greenville County Schools Superintendent, Thomas E. Kerns.  Dr. Kerns was superintendent of Greenville County from February 1989 through June 1994.  Since that time, he has returned twice in an interim capacity.  He served as an educator and administrator for 39 years in the field of education.

Thomas E. Kerns Elementary School opened in the fall of 2006.  Two smaller elementary schools, Baker's Chapel Elementary and Greenview Elementary, combined to create our lovely school.
