PRINCIPAL'S INSIGHT
We are pleased to welcome you to Hughes Academy or Science and Technology! Our school offers many unique and cutting edge programs for middle school students. We have nine state of the art Synergistic science labs. We have developed new technology classes such as Electronic Music and Sound Design and Podcast/Broadcast Journalism, and we have implemented an exiting, revised Gateway to Technology Program. We have added and 8th grade Spanish Immersion class marking the first time students in the district have participated in a world language immersion program from K-5 through 8th grade. These students will enter high school with two foreign language credits. We also offer high school level credit for Algebra I Honors, Geometry, Spanish I, and English I Honors. Challenge level English Language Arts classes are available for students who meet district criteria. We also offer a 6th grade Accelerated Math class. Advanced classes are also available for qualifying students in both English Language Arts and Math. Our students clubs actively provide additional opportunities for our students to participate in real life experiences in science and technology.
Our goal here at Hughes Academy is to challenge each child to obtain their fullest potential. Middle school is the time for young adolescents to develop the skills, talents, and abilities needed to transition into the adult world. We strive to offer our students the opportunities to grow mentally, socially, and emotionally.
