South Carolina Junior Book Award Program
Eighty-five Hughes Academy students participated in the South Carolina Junior Book Award Program for 2012-2013, and fifty-three qualified to attend the luncheon and vote for their favorite nominee.

JBA Top Readers for 2012-13
Kaitlyn Milligan and Jailen Taylor read all twenty Junior Book Award nominees, and Jarquayla Robinson read twelve nominees. Congratulations!

State Book Award Winner
"Hero" by Mike Lupica was voted the Junior Book Award winner for 2012-13 by middle school students across the state of South Carolina. "Hero" was a favorite among Hughes Academy students!
