Junior Book Award Nominees for 2013-14The South Carolina Junior Book Award Nominees for 2013-2014 have been announced! Follow the link below to read about the twenty new nominees. Keep notes on the books you read and get SC JBA Book Award program credit in August.

South Carolina Junior Book Award Program
Junior Book Award Program 2011-2012 Eighty-five Hughes Academy students participated in the South Carolina Junior Book Award Program for 2012-2013, and fifty-three qualified to attend the luncheon and vote for their favorite nominee.





JBA Top Readers for 2012-13
Junior Book Nominees for 2012-2013 Kaitlyn Milligan and Jailen Taylor read all twenty Junior Book Award nominees, and Jarquayla Robinson read twelve nominees. Congratulations!



Salsaritas’s Luncheon
Skeleton Creek Ben Bacot and the fine folks at Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina at Greenridge provided the delicious taco and nacho bar served at the luncheon.

State Book Award Winner
Skeleton Creek "Hero" by Mike Lupica was voted the Junior Book Award winner for 2012-13 by middle school students across the state of South Carolina. "Hero" was a favorite among Hughes Academy students!
