The annual Reflections program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Students are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six areas: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts, which includes art forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage.
When students participate in this program, they are participating at a school, council, district, state and national levels. Each level offers different things to students who are winners, some offer trophies, plaques, and for us here at the school level we are going to be offered gift cards for entries that place 1st- 3rd at a school level. But more than just trophies or plaques is the opportunities for students to express themselves through their talents. These awards can also be used on their college applications. Participation at the high school level is small, so the chances of placing is very good. Students may also enter more than one entry per catergory or enter as many catergories as they like.
This 2010-11 Reflections Program Theme is "Together we can." Each student is allowed to interpret this theme and express it through their entry. Official entry forms and all the rules for each category are available on the South Carolina PTA website - www.scpta.org.
