Welcome to our Freshman Academy |
Congratulations Mrs. Prince for being nominated as HHS Teacher of the Year, and being one of the top ten teachers of the year in Greenville County.

What is the purpose of the Freshman Academy? The Freshman Academy has been set up
to help incoming eighth graders to get acclimated to the High
School setting. The core courses of English, Math, Science, and
Social Studies are all taught in close proximity in the back of the
building. The Freshman Academy is located in the 400, 500 and part
of the back 200 hallways. Only Freshman are allowed in the Academy
so our teachers get familiar with the students rather quickly. They
become mentors, trusted faces, and helping hands with goals to make
the transition from eighth grade to ninth go a little smoother. We
hope that with our closer attention to detail we can
help our student's achieve a higher level of success. |
What is the purpose of single gender classes?
Hillcrest High School's Freshman Academy's English and math teachers are excited to be part of an initiative to offer single-gender classes this year. To learn more about single-gender education, please view the PowerPoint presentation and visit the state department's web site. |
