At Golden Strip Career and Technology Center, we make sure that the
state curriculum standards are taught to every student. We
understand that there are certain principles and practices in every
cluster that each student should know and it is incumbent upon us to
inculcate them into the minds of our young people. We also know that
co-curricula activities are also a vital part of the educational
process. One hundred percent of our students this year were members
of SkillsUSA. We also had some students who were also members of
HOSA, DECA, and FFA. We strive to have students who are not only
able to work effectively in our society but also able to take an
active part in matters outside of the workplace.
We offer a challenging curriculum to our students. In
addition to the regular program of study, our students have the
opportunity to earn dual credit at a local technical college and
they also have the opportunity to co-op with several local
companies. We also have programs for our occupational diploma
students that will give them the opportunity to enter some of our
regular courses. We have a program for each and every student.
Again this year, our students have shown their competitive
spirit by participating in local, state, and national competitions.
One of our students will represent the state of South Carolina in
the auto collision repair competition at the SkillsUSA National
Leadership Conference in Kansas City, Kansas, in June. This is the
second year in a row that we have had a student represent this state
at the national competitions. Also, we have several other students
participating in national competitions with DECA and HOSA. Two of
our students were elected HOSA state officers. One was elected as
the SC HOSA State Secretary, and one was elected as the SC HOSA
reporter/photographer.
The success of our school is due to our partnership with all
of our stakeholders. We have dedicated students, cooperative feeder
schools, supportive parents, and a hard working School Improvement
Council.
At Golden Strip Career and Technology Center, we are
positive about teaching and learning. We truly believe that all
students can learn and that all students can be successful at their
own particular ability levels.
