"Achieve,
Believe, SOAR"
PBIS at Grove Elementary

What is PBIS?
PBIS is an acronym for Positive Behavior
Interventions and Support. Improving student behavior is an ongoing goal at
Grove Elementary. Grove was selected to participate in the training and
implementation of PBIS through a state grant. A team of teachers representing
each grade level and departments went to Columbia this summer to be trained in
PBIS and create a school-wide system for Grove Elementary.
PBIS is focusing on school-wide systems of
support. Proactive strategies for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate
student behaviors are implemented to create a positive school environment. The
team at Grove spent time this summer to create procedures and strategies to
teach these behaviors to students. The team also created behavior expectations
for students so students know what actions are appropriate in all settings of
our school. Students were taught these behaviors at the beginning of the school
year. It is important that students see what appropriate behaviors look like as
they are taught.
