The students do an outdoor lab where they recognize a space and time relationship. In this lab, one meter is equal to 10 million years. The students measure off all the periods on the geologic time scale. Then they post flags and read details about each time period on each stop. Then they can visually compare the times of each period. What is so amazing is one millimeter on the geologic time scale is how long humans have been on earth in this lab. However, the entire walk is around 170 meters!
