Meals
How Much Do Lunch & Breakfast Cost?
Each year, schools serve over 7 million lunches and 1.2
million breakfasts. That breaks down to 37,000 lunches and more
than 10,000 breakfasts served each day!
Elementary school students may buy lunch for $1.50 daily or
purchase weekly tickets for $7.50.
The cost for middle and high school students is $1.55 daily
or $7.75 weekly.
Students may pay 80 cents daily for breakfast or purchase
weekly tickets for $4.00.
Parents applying for free or reduced price meals should
submit one application per family.
Menus are printed in area newspapers and school
newsletters and broadcast on the Schools Channel (Charter 14 and
99). For further information, contact
Food Service at 292-7745.
Greenville County Schools participates in the
free and reduced price meals for children served in schools
under the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast
Program. Local school officials have adopted household size and
income
criteria for determining eligibility. Parents should
complete appropriate forms on the first day of school if they
think their child qualifies for free or reduced price meals.
Changes to Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
Beginning in July 2005, all students in a
household will be listed on ONE application. Applications are
available at all schools.
To allow equal access, an application is sent home with every
student at the beginning of the school year. However, only one
application per family should be completed. A letter will be
sent home when the application is approved.
