Dress Code

You are coming to Greer High School because you want to learn. Consequently, the school has a responsibility to guide you so that you will become a good citizen. Your personal appearance may often determine your safety, health, and success. Every student is required to dress in a manner appropriate for school. The administration reserves the right to determine whether or not clothing is disruptive to the educational process. These general guidelines are to be followed:

I . The State Board of Health requires that every student wear shoes to school. No beach shoes, flip-flops, or shower shoes. 

2. Students may elect to wear skirts, skorts, or dress shorts; these articles of clothing should be no higher than (2) inches above the knee. Also, clothing should be free of holes above the knee.

3. Walking shorts will be allowed according to the following criteria: A. Shoris must be hemmed and no higher than (2) inches above the knee - no cut-offs. B. Spandex, dolphins, boxers, sweat pants, and gym shorts are unacceptable.

4. Students will not be permitted to wear caps, hats, or any type of head cover in the building.

5. T-shirts, patches, belt buckles, necklaces, and other wearing apparel that displays suggestive words, pictures, or advertisements are prohibited. 

6. Any apparel worn by a student that advertises and/or promotes alcohol. drugs, and/or obscene/profane language or is deemed by the administration to interfere with the educational process is prohibited. 

7. The top wearing apparel (shirt, blouse, etc.) must meet or overlap the bottom wearing apparel (in other words, no bare midriffs, halters, etc.). Strapless dresses and tops are prohibited. 

8. Students must wear the bottom wearing apparel (pants, jeans, etc.) at an appropriate level at the waistline. Offenders will be sent home.

9. Drug paraphernalia used as jewelry or ornaments are not allowed.

10. Non-prescription dark glasses are not allowed.

11. Body piercing that is visible to teachers, administrators, and students is strictly prohibited. 

12. At all times Greer High School students should dress neatly.

13. All dress code offenses will require a change of clothing .

14. Students must wear their ID badges clearly visible above the waist and below the neck on a lanyard. ID badges must not be altered in any way. If a student has a question about appropriate dress, he/she is advised to seek a clarification from an administrator before wearing the clothing.
