Alternative Programs are additional educational settings offered to students who, for various reasons, are having difficulty in the traditional educational setting. The Alternative Programs of The School District of Greenville County will provide short term intervention programs that offer a structured learning environment designed to address the academic and social needs of at-risk students.

Programs
Sullivan Center Alternative High School, located at Sullivan Center, is a short-term intervention program that offers a highly structured learning environment designed to address the academic and social needs of at-risk high school students.
The goals of the program are to enable students to reintegrate successfully into the regular school setting; to assist students in improving academic skills; to help students develop self discipline and a sense of responsibility for their actions; to provide a safe and nurturing environment for learning; and to assist students in identifying and overcoming barriers that inhibit their educational and social development.
In addition to instruction in the areas of social studies, mathematics, English, and science, students also receive basic "Life Skills" instruction. Students may earn three units per semester in this program. Classes meet from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. For additional information call: 241-3393.
The Middle School Alternative Program provides services to students in grades six through eight who are experiencing difficulty at the middle school level.
Students with frequent minor discipline problems and academic deficiencies are considered for acceptance into the program. Students attending this program receive intense instruction in "Life Skills" and are placed on a behavior management system. Students will normally attend this program for a minimum of one semester. Transportation and lunch are provided. This program is housed at three separate locations: J. Harley Bonds Career Center, West Greenville School, and the Donaldson Career Center.
