Curriculum Team
Mission Statement: Giving children from all over the world a new language and new opportunities for the future.
Accommodations and modifications for LEP students should be included in teacher lesson plans and help document our district’s compliance with Title III requirements.
Assessment
The IPT (IDEA Proficiency Test) is used for initial screening, identification, and placement purposes.
The ELDA (English Language Development Assessment) is a standardized ELP test administered each spring to determine English proficiency and progress in compliance with Title III/NCLB requirements.
In order to exit the ESOL program, students must score fluent on ELDA in 3rd grade or above.
Eligible LEP students entering US schools for the first time after July 1 of the academic year of testing qualify for exemption from the ELA portion of standardized tests. The IPT or ELDA score is used to satisfy the ELA requirement. Please refer to test administration manuals for other accommodations.
