26 Greenville County Teachers earned National Board Certification in 2011!
Greenville County is ranked 11th in the nation with 562 teachers who have achieved National Board Certification.
Teachers seeking National Board Certification undertake a two-part process that takes from one to three years to complete. The process requires candidates to reflect on their classroom practices, their understanding of subject material and their preparation techniques. In addition to preparing a portfolio with videotapes of classroom teaching, lesson plans, student work samples and reflective essays, teachers must complete assessment center exercises based on content knowledge to prove they have mastered the subjects they teach and also how to teach them.
The National Board has extended many of their application and payment deadlines (see below) for 2011-2012 NB cycle candinates.
2012-2013 application window will open on February 15th. Federal Subsidy money available for 400 teachers. This money will cover $1250 of the application fees.
