The Center for Excellence is the Greenville Chamber Foundation's premier educational program. It's mission is to introduce Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) strategies into the classroom to meet the changing needs of both education and the 21st-Century economy. Greenville is in its 9th consecutive year of declining income competitiveness relative to peer communities and the U.S. as a whole-an unprecedented trend in our community's modern history. Accordingly, the Greenville Chamber is utilizing strategic initiatives, such as Center for Excellence, to produce greater economic results for the community. Center for Excellence Quality strategies introduce four basic principles in the classroom to address much needed reform:
- Student goal setting
- Student data tracking
- Quality Tools (problem solving methods)
- The Essential Facts System TM (a preview/review system designed to promote learning rather than memorization).
CQI strategies bridge the gap between the skills the workforce is demanding and the education schools are providing so that students are prepared to succeed in the 21st-Century knowledge-based workplace.
