Professional Development Information
Over 4000 workshop and seminar sessions are provided to GCS staff members on a yearly basis. Employees may view a list of these offerings and register to attend them on the portal. To get to this information, click on the link below and follow the prompts.
Clemson University:
Clemson University has expanded its courses and programs at the University Center in Greenville. Teacher Education will now offer the coursework leading to the add-on certification in several areas (including ESOL and ECE) as well as graduate degrees in education.
The ESOL cohort is forming now for classes beginning in June. All courses will be offered at the University Center in Greenville at a reduced tuition rate. Full time teachers who are interested in obtaining the ESOL add-on certificate may join the ESOL cohort and register at contract course rates. This cohort will be able to take the required 4-course sequence during the school year and complete the add-on certification course requirements by May 2013. The course sequence is listed on the flyer. The first course in the sequence, ED 839 Introduction to Linguistics, is scheduled for June 5 – June 25, M-F, 3-5:45 pm. Greenville Technical College
Greenville Tech Online course for teachers are available through Greenville Tech.
Furman University
Furman University and the Office of Graduate Studies recently began a new degree program, the Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. This degree program prepares candidates for the next level beyond the master’s degree and leads to add-on certification at the superintendent’s level.
