Application Process:
You must complete the following:
1. District Application or Teacher Application on CERRA website - The application (including CERRA) must be printed and mailed
2. Voluntary Applicant Data
3. Choice Point Authorization Form (for background check)
4. Reference Form
You will need to send this to your reference and have it returned directly to the Human Resource Department. (may fax to 864-355-9217) -- OR -- If you waive your right to review your references on the CERRA application you will not need to submit a separate reference form. References will print with your application.We must have the Application, Reference (Or printed CERRA application with references) and Choice Point Authorization for the application to be complete.

- Once your application is complete it will be reviewed for approval as a substitute teacher. However, applicants will only be added when our vacancies determine that we need additional substitutes. Due to the large volume of applicants, please do not call Human Resources. Any questions should be sent to gcssubs@greenville.k12.sc.us.
- You will be notified by mail or email when we have the need to employ additional substitutes. At that time, you will be invited to attend a Substitute Orientation Session. You should follow the instructions on the New Hire Forms Check List.
- You will complete the paperwork and bring it with you to a Substitute Orientation Session. It is mandatory that you bring the completed paperwork and attend a session prior to working as a substitute.
