The Intel Teach to the Future Course is a forty hour graduate level course that focuses on Technology
Integration. Teachers are expected to come into the class knowing how to use PowerPoint, Word, and Publisher. Teachers will complete the class with a fully integrated unit tied to state standards and curriculum objectives.
Course Goals:
Participants will:
- Plan, create, and implement a technology integrated unit that is tied to state standards and curriculum objectives.
- Discuss and develop Unit, Essential, and Content questions with the purpose of developing a unit that is tied to state standards
- Examine and understand United States Copyright laws and Fair Use Policy
- Create a works cited document for resources used throughout the unit
- Create and evaluate student sample multimedia presentation
- Create presentation evaluation tools for assessing student learning
- Create and evaluate student publications
- Create publication evaluation tools for assessing student learning
- Create scaffolds to support their students with the help of PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, and other programs that enhance instruction
- Create and evaluate student sample web sites
- Create web site evaluation tools for assessing student learning
- Create multimedia presentations, web sites, or publications to support their units
- Create timelines and plans for unit implementation
- Create management documents to assist in unit implementation
- Locate internet resources that offer professional development, grants, academic pricing, and/or freeware for educators
- Create and present a unit that meets either the E or S category on the unit rubric
Learning Activities
Participants will be expected to participate in the Pedagogical Practices and Pair and Share activities. These activities provide teachers with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively implement technology into their curriculum
Professionalism:
It is expected that all students will be on time to class and stay the entire time. This is a graduate level class and students are expected to put for the work that is expected in a graduate level course. Any time missed over two hours must be made up within two weeks of the absence or the participant will be asked to drop the class and take it at a later date.

Creating Student Multimedia Presentations

Creating Student Web Sites
- Pair and Share: Share your website plans/storyboards with the class
- Pedagogical Practices: Internet safety and guidelines for publishing student work and photographs on the web.
- Activity 1: Create a website that will serve as your student sample
- Activity 2: Create an evaluation rubric for your website
- Activity 3: Modify your Unit Plan and/or learning objectives
- Take Home Activity: Create a rubric for assessing your student's websites

Module 7:
Creating Teacher Support Materials
- Pair and Share : Share your student website and evaluation rubric with the class
- Pedagogical Practices: Discuss ways students can use email and internet to communicate with others
- Activity 1: View sample teacher support materials; create a presentation, publication or website to support your unit
- Activity 2: Modify your unit plan

Developing Plans for Implementation

- Pedagogical Practices: How can you meet the needs of all learners using technology

- Activity 2: Create some management documents (computer rules, directions, sign up sheets, etc,) to help with the
implementation of your unit
- Activity 3: Modify your Unit Plan
- Take Home Activity: Revise your unit plan, student samples and all unit portfolio materials if necessary

Putting Unit Portfolios Together
- Pair and Share: Your unit portfolio
- Pedagogical Practices: Best practices for managing student use of computers in the classroom
- Activity 1: Organizing Unit Portfolios
- Activity 2: Complete your unit plan, student samples, and all portfolio materials
- Take Home Activity: Locate Internet resources that offer Professional Development for Educators, and grants, academic pricing, and freeware. Prepare for the Unit showcase (Final)

Showcasing Unit Portfolios
- Pair and Share: Share the websites you found that offer professional development, freeware, and grants
