What is Intel
Intel is a hands on technology based class. It attempts to combine content with technology with the goal of creating a content rich unit with technology infused. The curriculum attempts to:
- Increase the effectiveness of technology in the classroom
- Focus on ways students and teachers can use technology to enhance their learning
- emphasizes the hands on approach to learning and helps teachers create content rich units that address state, national, and technology standards
- Promote opportunities for students to be engaged through the use of technology
- Encourage teachers to work in teams in order to produce units that are useful in a variety of classrooms.

Do I need to take the Intel Class?
Yes!! All teachers of Greenville County Schools must take the Intel Course before their next recertification period starting in 2005 in order to meet the requirements of the Teacher Technology Proficiency Requirement.
What are the course requirements of Intel?
Teachers enrolled in the class must be willing to commit to 40 hours of seat work and at least 20 hours of out of class work. By the end of the class, you will have an curricular unit that meets state standards and integrates technology that you can take back to the classroom. Please note: Teachers must attend all 40 hours of the course. Teachers missing any portion of their class must make up the session in order to get credit for the class.
How do I know if I have the required skills to take Intel?
You do need to have some computer knowledge before you take Intel to make your time in the class easier. Click on the link at the bottom to find out what you need to know in order to take the class. If you feel you are not quite ready, you have some options to help you prepare:

Can I get Graduate Credit?
Yes! Any teacher taking the Intel course can apply for graduate credit through Furman University. The cost is $225 for three hours credit. There is an additional $50.00 application fee for first-time students. Teachers can apply to be reimbursed for the $225 through the district. This reimbursement is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
