Board of Trustees Now Using 'BoardDocs'

The Greenville Schools Board of Trustees is using BoardDocs, a web based delivery of Board documents.  With BoardDocs we not only have the ability to process agenda items, supporting documents, policies and procedures, but  also determine who has access to each document - such as board members and staff, or the general public.

BoardDocs has been developed for school boards, local governments, private and public boards to help alleviate the enormous task of assembling, printing, distributing and revising agenda items and policies.

Paperless Board Saves Time, Money

School Board meeting agendas, attachments, and minutes can be accessed from the Greenville County Schools website. Paper copies will no longer be provided. The move to a web-based system has saved money by alleviating the enormous task of assembling, printing, distributing and revising agenda items and policies. In addition, the media and the public have easier access and are able to "search" for minutes and other information.

Citizen Participation

Persons wishing to speak to the Board must register in person the night of the regular meeting. Registration is open between 6:15 and 6:50 p.m. Each speaker has three minutes. Two opportunities to address the Board are provided at each regular Board meeting: 1) one hour at the beginning of the meeting, and 2) an unlimited time at the end of the meeting for persons on the registration list who did not speak during the first time period because of time limitation.

Citizens who want to appear before the Committee of the Whole will have an opportunity to register to do so on the day of the meeting between 8:30 and 9:00 for items related to any category of the agenda. The allocated time for all speakers will not exceed twenty-one minutes during each category of the agenda. Once this limit is reached, any pending requests will be carried over to the next meeting. A person who has spoken at one meeting and requests to speak on the same topic again at a later meeting will be placed at the bottom of the list of speakers.

(Complete guidelines are outlined in Policy KCA.)
