Ms. Mowatt's Real World Math
In Ms. Mowatt's math class, the students worked on a
project in math dealing with percentages. They designed a department
store brochure showing percentages off of different items found in a department
store. This could be clothes, accessories, etc. The students had to show the
original price of the item and use 10 different items with 10 different
percentages off. They had to illustrate the article as well as show their work on
how they would figure out a certain percentage off the original price and then
show the sales price with the percentage off. REAL WORLD MATH!

Fourth Grade Students Make Mystery Masks
Fourth
grade students in Ms. Gossett and Ms. Cunningham's made Mystery Character masks.
After reading their selected novel, the students used a variety of materials to
design a 3-dimensional face mask depicting a mysterious main character. They
have been encouraged by their teachers to use recycled materials found around
the house. They also wrote an acrostic poem to serve as a nametag for their
mask. A summery of the book was also written.
