Kindergarten Registration and
Kindergarten Roundup Information
GREENVILLE, SC -
Greenville County parents are reminded that children who will be five years old
on or before September 1, 2008 must enroll in public or private kindergarten,
unless the parent or legal guardian signs a waiver. Greenville County Schools
offer full-day five-year-old kindergarten programs to all students.
Parents are encouraged to
pre-register their children for four-or-five year old kindergarten or first
grade for the 2008-09 school year during a special pre-registration week January
15-19. Another pre-registration day is scheduled for Friday, February 10.
Students must be four,
five, or six years of age on or before September 1, 2008 to enter each
respective program. To enroll a new student, a parent must go to their assigned
school and present the following:
-
a state-issued birth certificate;
-
a properly completed immunization certificate or religious
objector’s statement, and;
-
a social security card is requested.
If a parent does not know their assigned
school, they may call INFOLine at 355-3100.
Kindergarten
Round Up

incoming kindergarten students who will turn 5 on or before September
1, 2008 and their families. There will be an informational meeting for
all parents and the "incoming students" will meet the kindergarten teachers
and will be screened that evening for class placement for the coming year.
Please plan to attend this very important evening. If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact the school at 355-5100.

Thanks to you and your staff
for a fun and informational Kindergarten Roundup last evening. My
daughter was excited for weeks knowing that she would finally get to
visit her "big school" and chatted about her adventure all evening.
She woke up this morning ready for breakfast at the cafeteria
(although Burger King was a suitable substitute after learning --
with a few tears -- that school did not begin until August).
I was especially pleased with
the sense of community and the strength of the PTA at Fountain Inn
Elementary. My wife and I left last night's program feeling equally
excited about Mia's new school and look forward to helping the
faculty and administration in any way.
Please convey the thanks of
two (no longer nervous) parents to your staff. I'm certain the
others in the room were equally impressed following the Roundup.
