  • What is a Magnet Academy?
    In Greenville county, Magnet Academies were established in 1996 to help inner city schools with declining enrollment, achievement, and increasing minority isolation. Today, magnet academies attract top students, as well as talented teachers who bring innovative ideas. These distinguished teachers are chosen because of their specialized skills and commitment to each program's focus. The Board of Trustees and Administration are committed to the success of the Select Schools Program. Additional funding has been allocated for teaching positions, instructional equipment and supplies, and staff development.

  • When are Magnet tours offered?
    Please call Mrs. Jennifer Brown (355-2964) to arrange a tour.  She will be glad to stay late if needed.

  • Who can apply to attend a Magnet Academy?
    Students who reside in a Magnet Academy attendance area are automatically enrolled in that school. If you reside outside our attendance area, you can apply for admission to our school. Selection is based on the following criteria: student interest in the specific school program, previous academic achievement, attendance, and discipline record.

  • Where can I get an application to attend a Magnet Academy?
    Applications for 20011-12 can be downloaded in a Word file and/or PDF file

  • Do you have an afterschool program?
    There is one afterschool program at East North Street Academy this year.

  • o Extendad Daycare Program – The program serves 75 students between 2:30 and 5:45. Snacks are served first and then the program focuses on homework and tutorial assistance in reading and math. Student volunteers from Bob Jones University help with instruction and tutoring. Prices are $40 per week for 1 child, $65 per week for 2 children and $85 per week for 3 children with a $45 registration fee due before the student begins the program.   • What do I need to register my child at school?
    When transferring from another school within the Greenville School District, bring a transfer form from your child's former school.
    To register your child new to Greenville county, you are required to bring the following:
    1.  State-issued birth certificate
    2.  A properly completed immunization certificate or religious
    exemption certificate
    Age Requirements:
    4K - Your child must turn 4 years old on or before September 1st.
    K5 - Your child must turn 5 years old on or before September 1st.
    1st Grade - Your child must turn 6 years old on or before September 1st.

  • How can I keep informed about school events?
    Classroom teachers send newsletters home each Monday.  The school marquee on East North Street keeps parents and community informed about upcoming events.

  • What is a Title One school?  
    Title One is the federal education program that provides funds to help schools and school systems improve the achievement of educationally disadvantage students through additional instruction for students, professional development for school staff and activities to help parents support their children’s education.
    Schools are eligible based on the percent of the students who participate in the Free and Reduced Price Lunch program. It reaches over 6 million children annually, primarily in the early elementary grades.  For more information, Click Here

  • Who qualifies for free and reduced school lunch?
    Children in households getting Food Stamps or TANF and most foster children qualify for free meals regardless of income. Also, if your household income is within the limits on the Federal Income Chart, your children may qualify for free or reduced meals.

  • My child’s step/brother is free, why isn’t he?
    We cannot make brothers and sisters free from one application. You must fill out an application for each child. Applications are available year-round from the school.

  • If I don’t qualify now, may I apply again later?
    Yes. You may apply at any time during the school year if your household size goes up, income goes down, or if you start getting Food Stamps or TANF. If you lose your job, your child(ren) may qualify for free or reduced meals during the time you are unemployed. You may be required to provide proof of income or a statement from your ex-employer.

  • How can I be involved in school activities?
    We welcome anyone who wants to volunteer at our school. You can volunteer to help in the classroom or help with activities going on at our school. Joining the PTA or having lunch with your child rewards not only the student but the parent.
