Strategies to Achieve this Goal

  1. A master list (printed copy) of students will be obtained from each feeder high school of all students with a 2.0 GPA or better. This will be used to compare to our student rosters in order to identify at risk students.
  2. A master list (printed copy) of students will be obtained from each feeder high school of all students with a 2.8 GPA or better. This will be used to compare to our student rosters in order to identify students who could receive college credit
  3. Review the master lists from step #1 and #2 during course registration and identify at risk and college credit students.
  4. At-risk students will be identified no later than the first progress report and a plan will be developed to help that student achieve the goals set for him/ her. A written copy of the plan will be generated by the Guidance Counselor and distributed to the principal, student, teacher, and this student's parent or legal guardian.
  5. Grade distribution sheets from each program will be turned in to the principal. The principal will review these sheets and will meet with teachers whose students do not meet the percentage goal and will work with the teacher to develop an improvement plan.

Strategies to Achieve this Goal

  1. Develop an application process to select students based on their desire to take career courses.
  2. Interview potential students based on their applications.
  3. Go to each feeder high school and pre-register all of the students interested in career center courses.
  4. Reassign students that were placed in career classes but prefer to take other courses.
  5. Have a sole individual in charge of all aspects of attendance and tardies, including disciplinary action.  This person will contact the student’s parent/guardian to inform them of each absence. This individual will also be responsible for informing the principal, teachers, and parents of these at-risk students.
  6. A attendance incentive program will be implemented to reward students who are present in school at least 95% of each nine weeks grading period.
