    Thanks to each of you for making the month of April 2010 memorable. What a wonderful opportunity we have here in Star Academy: Small student body, caring faculty and staff, innovative teaching, quality meals, and a safe learning environment. One of the highlights this month was spring break and rejuvenation for students and faculty.

End of Course Test and Exams

Star Academy students will take End of Course Test May 18 – 21, 2010 if they are taking the following subjects this semester: English 1-CP, Algebra 1-CP, Biology 1-CP, Physical Science 1-CP. If a student is taking Algebra 1-A, Global Studies 1-CP, or Earth Science 1-CP they will not take the state mandated End of Course Test.

Star Academy Exam Schedule

All students will take final exams starting May 27, 2010 and ending June 1, 2010. Students who miss an exam can take it during the day if the teacher lets them. Otherwise it must be taken by June 2, 2010. The following is the Schedule:

Donaldson Star Exams:

May 27 – Global Studies & Algebra

May 28 – 3^rd Period English & Biology

June 1 – 4^th Period English & Biology

Enoree Star Exams:

May 27 – 3rd Period

May 28 – 2^nd & 4^th Period

June 1 – 1^st Period

4th Nine Weeks Progress Report

The Fourth Nine Week Progress Report was issued to the students on Friday, April 30, 2010. Please note that a grade of 61 in the 3^rd Nine Weeks Column means that your child must have a 79 average the 4^th Nine Weeks in order to pass the class with a 70. If your child received a failing grade in any of their classes, we encourage you to contact the teacher to schedule a conference. If you have any questions, please call Mr. Manigault 355-7400 or Mr. Lancaster – 355- 4650.

 

Star Academy Completion Ceremony

The Star Academy Completion Ceremony for students who complete the program and earn enough units to be promoted to the 10^th grade will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 – 6:30 p.m. at the Enoree Career Center. Please note this change of date. All students and parents from both Star Academies are invited to attend and come early for a seat. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. All students are asked to be at the school no later than 6:15 p.m. to line up for the processional. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras and help us celebrate this wonderful occasion. You will receive a special invitation in the mail to attend. When you receive the invitation, please be sure to return it with the number of people you are planning to bring so that we can prepare enough food and seats. We will notify you on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 following the last exam if your child will not be able to participate due to grades or attendance.

Awards Day

We will recognize all of our students of the month, most improved students, perfect attendance, and students with the highest average in each class during Awards Day. We will also issue superlatives and the yearbook at this time. We encourage family and friends to attend.

Donaldson Star Awards – May 26, 2010 – 2 p.m.

Parent Volunteers

We are in need of volunteers to help us with the Completion Ceremony Reception and other end of year activities. If you or someone you know is willing to volunteer to assist us, please call 355-7400. Your reward will be helping our students reach their goals.

Star Academy Yearbook

We will produce a Star Academy yearbook for our students and faculty. This will be a wonderful keepsake. It is our goal for the book to cost no more than $5.00 a person.
