Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Mrs. Julie
Urso for being named Ellen Woodside Elementary Teacher of the
Year for the 2011-2012 school year.

A note from Mrs. Urso:
I am so honored to be Ellen Woodside’s Teacher of the Year. I am blessed to be a
part of a dedicated and hard working group of teachers and staff. Ellen Woodside
is a wonderful school where children can feel supported and loved as they learn
and grow. I am proud to be a part of this great community.
I
am currently in my sixteenth year as a teacher here at Ellen Woodside. This is
my seventh year teaching second grade. I have also taught kindergarten and first
grade in the past.
I
graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Early Childhood Education. In 2005, I earned a Masters in Education
from Columbia College. I am the mother of three wonderful boys and I enjoy
reading in my spare time.
I love working with children and seeing them become successful learners. I
strive each day to make learning an enjoyable experience for children. I enjoy
being able to work with my fellow educators as well as parents to support our
children. I feel a huge sense of accomplishment from being able to help make a
difference here at Ellen Woodside Elementary.
