Position — Network Technician I

Beginning
of
Length of Service — 12 months
A 90-calendar day probationary period is required upon
initial employment. The purpose of the probationary period is to provide the
staff member and the Field Services Manager a means by which to evaluate the staff member’s
performance, attitude, and potential for success in the job.
Major Responsibilities:
(1) Diagnose, repair and maintain all District microcomputers and
associated peripherals;
(2) Provide installation, diagnosis and resolution for District
supported software applications, and operating systems in the areas of
administrative, instructional and lab environments;
(3) Provide assistance in the diagnosis and resolution of various
network hardware issues;
(4) Install and configure microcomputer systems in a networked
environment; and
(5) Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
The person in this position will
be required to have the following credentials unless other wise noted:
(1) Minimum of a high school
diploma; (2) one or more years of field experience installing, configuring and
troubleshooting personal computers, printers, related peripherals and software
in a networking environment; (3) an in-depth knowledge of Windows XP and
related software required; (4) A+ certification, Microsoft MCP or other network
certifications, formal degrees or equivalent experience is a plus; (5)
experience with Microsoft operating systems specifically in the area of
workstation and network configurations; (6) shows an understanding of network
premise wiring, ANSI/EIA/TIA-586 codes and the ability to install, terminate
and test network cabling; (7) has the ability to communicate and work well in a
team environment; (8) has and maintains a valid South Carolina driver’s license;
(9) shows willingness to learn new technologies with an emphasis on networking;
and (10) such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate.
