VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Position — Science On Wheels/Health Outreach Coordinator (Part-time)

Location — Roper Mountain Science Center

Posting Date — November 29, 2011

Salary — $23.00 per hour

Length of Service — Part-time temporary employment, 1-3 days and limited to 29 hours per week from September-May during school days. Specific hours and days will be arranged with the department chair.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Teach high quality interactive science, health, or other programs in the school setting

2. Stay current on school lesson related curriculum, kits and textbook resources.

3. Design flyer and advertise Outreach programs

4. Schedule all requests

5. Assist with financial and participant records

6. Maintain equipment and supplies

7. Inform maintenance supervisor of condition of van or vehicles if used.

8. Some lifting of equipment required.

9. Travel required throughout Greenville County and surrounding counties

10. Other duties as assigned by the Director

Qualifications:

(1) College Degree/or equivalent for field; (2) Teaching experience in a formal or informal setting; (3) Specialized experience in an area of science, health education or social studies; (4) Good organizational skills; (5) Proficient in Microsoft Office; and (6) Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.

The applicant will need the following Skills and Abilities for this position:

1. A proven ability to teach and motivate students

2. A pleasant personality and presence for students, teachers and public.

3. A self-motivated, team player that works well with others

4. Physical strength to handle equipment including tables and boxes

5. Ability to teach lessons in assembly setting with up to 250 students

6. Flexible schedule to accommodate early mornings and late evenings
