Parent Educators, a
bi-monthly home visitation parenting program, is available to students enrolled
in the Family Learning GED classes and parents of PreK students with a younger
sibling. (birth –age 4) The program is offered in our Child Development Centers
and some elementary schools. Parent Educators is available at no cost to
families. This program delivers developmental information at each visit specific
to age of the child. Parents are given information on the value of a print rich
environment and tips on how to inspire children to be great readers. The parent
educator brings a book for the family and guides an activity to promote
cognitive, social, or motor development at each visit. Families are invited to
parent/child activities, parent workshops, and book celebrations at our Child
Development Centers.
The goal of Parent Educators is to strengthen parenting skills and teach
parents how to prepare their young children for school. The parent educator
helps to build the home/school connection that is so important to successful
learning.
If you have a child enrolled in Greenville County Schools Early Childhood program and are
interested in the Parent Educators program for your birth to age 4 child,
please contact your child's teacher.
