Student Placement Policy for 2013-2014

Student Placement is taken very seriously at Chandler Creek Elementary. It is initiated according to a process that involves great time, effort, and careful thought to insure success for our students. Classrooms are heterogeneously grouped to mirror our society. In order to create balanced classrooms, we consider gender, ethnicity, ability levels, student needs, behavior concerns, and special program needs.
As we begin the process of creating classrooms for 2013-2014, we would like to give you an opportunity to tell us more about your child. You are welcome to write a letter about your child’s learning style, behavioral needs, or special concerns and e-mail to Mrs. Mills at jrmills@greenville.k12.sc.us or drop a letter by the office. We cannot accept request for teachers, yet we will consider your comments and work hard to find the best placement for your student.
A special note that class assignments will not be made until summer months once we have our full enrollment. A personalized letter will be sent by your child’s new teacher in August to welcome him/ her to their new class and provide needed information about our Meet and Greets.
We are encouraged by our parent to school partnership and the future of Chandler Creek Elementary.
Thank you greatly for helping us.

Tdap Vaccine

Beginning with the 2013 -14 school year, all children entering seventh grade must have received a dose of Tdap vaccine to protect them from pertussis (whooping cough). Parents do not have to wait until their child enters the seventh grade as children as young as seven years old can be vaccinated. Parents will need to provide their child’s school with a South Carolina Certificate of Immunization showing that their child received this newly required Tdap vaccine. Parents, please don’t wait – avoid the rush by making an appointment with your child’s healthcare provider to get the required Tdap vaccine and other vaccines recommended for your child’s protection.

PASS Test Scores for 2012

For the first time under Federal Accountability Law, South Carolina schools and districts received letter grades based upon student achievement. “The new federal report card tells students, parents, schools, and the public how schools are performing in a clear and easily understood system of letter grades.”  The letter grade system replaces Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), which required a school to meet every performance objective.  Schools were designated either “Met” AYP or “Not Met” AYP.   Chandler Creek's Accountability grade is 90.5 = A.  We are very excited about these results!  more >>>
