Be a Backpack Buddy in 2010 and 2011

Welcome to Buena Vista Elementary School! If you are new to our school you have joined a caring family centered student body, where we believe in taking care of one another. Here at Buena Vista we have a food driven backpack program for our families in need called Backpack Buddies.  

Through the generous financial support and food donations from our parents, teachers, local business, scouting organizations, and churches, we have been able to provide weekly food care packages for our families. You will see information on how you can participate and volunteer with Backpack Buddies posted around school, articles in the Bobcat Banner newsletter, our school website and correspondence in your child’s communication folder. 

General Suggestions/Information

We will be collecting a variety of breakfast and lunch items throughout the school year.  Some suggestions are: 

Cereal                                                                  peanut butter

nutri grain/granola bars,                                       jelly

grits                                                                      pop top soups

oatmeal                                                                pop top raviolis

fruit cups                                                             mac & cheese

pop tarts                                                              crackers

100% fruit juice boxes.                                        Beef stew

Also, if your family is interested in receiving our care packages this 2010-2011 year a permission form will be included in your back to school packet or you can contact our guidance counselor, Terri Pfister at 355-2204. Recipients must qualify for free or reduced lunch and be enrolled. All requests are kept confidential.
