BMS Cafeteria Services

The eating/drinking of food/beverages in classrooms must have the approval of the principal. Students who buy a lunch or bring a lunch from home may purchase tea, punch, or ice cream. Students are required to empty their trays and clean their tables. No food/drink is to be taken from the cafeteria.

In order to keep the serving lines moving, no student may go through the line more than one time. No student will be allowed to break in the line.

Students who wish to pay for lunch in advance should report to the cafeteria on Mondays--before 10:00 a.m. Payment for meals may be made by the day or in advance for any quantity of days. Please make checks payable to Bryson Middle School Cafeteria.

All schools participate in the  Universal Free breakfast program. Breakfast is served from 7:45-8:15 a.m .  Bus riders who arrive after 8:15am will be given the opportunity to eat breakfast. Students do not need a pass to go to breakfast. Students report to the cafeteria directly from the bus or the car drop-off area. Any student, who goes to class from breakfast after 8:15 a.m., without a pass from the cafeteria, will be considered tardy and disciplinary action will be taken.

Charged Meals Procedures

Meals may NOT be charged. “Food and Nutrition Services expects payment either in advance or at the point of service. If parents or guardians find it impossible to pay for student meals, please apply for free and reduced meals by completing an application available from your local school Cafeteria Manager.”

FANS Updates

 

Free and Reduced Meal Applications- Free and Reduced meal applications must be completed yearly to receive free school meals for the each SY. Free or Reduced meal status, determined by a FARMS application or Direct Certification by the SC Department of Education, is a requirement to receive the Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) cards that will be distributed by the SC Department of Social Services to eligible families during the school year. Questions regarding P-EBT cards should be directed to the South Carolina Department of Social Services at 800-554-5268 or by email at PEBTBenefits@dss.sc.gov  Online FARMS applications are currently available on the FANS website https://gcsfans.com/

Meals for Virtual Program Students- Virtual program students may receive meals each day by pre-ordering them one business day in advance from the cafeteria manager at their assigned school. FANS managers will work with school administration to determine the appropriate meal pick up times. Proof of GCS enrollment will be required to receive meals.

Adult Meal Prices- USDA has set minimum adult meal prices for 2021-22 school year to $4.81 for lunch and $3.07 for breakfast, plus any additional local tax on sales of prepared foods.
