Student Handbook Introduction

Bryson Middle School is a learning community where faculty, students, and parents partner to offer the best educational opportunities for every student. Open communication between the school and home is the most effective way to maintain current and accurate records of progress and to share ongoing concerns. As this new school year brings wonderful challenges and experiences for growth and advancement, we welcome you to BMS and look forward to a time of great expectations met. Thank you for your commitment to our school and its mission.

Message from the Principal

I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to you as you begin the 2010-2011 school year at Bryson Middle School. We would especially like to welcome our new students and parents and to tell you that we are excited to have you as a part of the Bryson Team. We encourage each of you to take advantage of the many opportunities you will have to grow academically, socially, and physically this year.

Please read the information in this handbook very carefully. It contains much information that will help you be successful at Bryson Middle this year. Please note that there are changes in the handbook from last year. One important change is the start and end times for middle school. Beginning this year, middle schools in Greenville County will begin at 8:30 AM and end at 3:15 PM. Students at Bryson Middle will continue to be allowed to enter the building beginning at 7:30 AM
each morning. Another important change for this year is the dress code policy. This information
has been sent out to everyone previously, but we encourage you to go over the policy very
carefully with your students. You may email your questions or concerns regarding the
dress code to brysonm@ greenville.k12.sc.us.

Teachers and administrators will also be going over this information with all students during the first days of school. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you have as you read through the handbook.

Again, we welcome you and feel honored to serve you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance as we work together to help our students have a great year.

Go Bulldogs!
