The library media program is fully integrated into the school's curriculum and supports the educational goals and the instructional objectives of Blue RidgeHigh School.
Hours
The BRHS Library Media Center is open daily from 7:30 a.m.-
4:00 p.m. Students may make arrangements with Mrs. Stephenson or Mrs. Heckman to come earlier or stay later.
Goal
Our goal is to encourage research, engage students in
reading for pleasure and support the curriculum. Our collection
can be accessed through OPAC.
Guidelines
The library is an extension of the school and classroom. All classroom and student handbook guidelines apply.
IDs and temporary IDs are required for entrance into the LMC and students must have a pass from their teacher.
- Students must sign in at the checkout desk.
- Food and beverages are not permitted in any part of the library except in the Tiger Cafe.
Computer Use
Currently, there are 30 computers for student use in the media center.
Our media center has numerous on-line services accessible from its home page, in
addition to search engines and career planning links. Student use of
media center computers or laptops are for instructional use only.
*Everyone using the Internet should be familiar with U.S. Copyright Law and the Greenville County School Districts Acceptable Use Policy.
Services
We offer the following services and supplies to make your library visit more productive and pleasant.
- Tiger Cafe: Flavored coffees, teas and hot chocolate are available for purchase by students and faculty. Cafe is opened in the morning at 7:45 and during all 3 lunches. Purchase cafe tickets in the library.
- Basic school supplies: Basic supplies are available for use, such as a stapler, three-hole punch, tape, pencils, glue sticks, highlighters and pens. Students may purchase Poster Board for $.50, CD for $.50, Note Cards for $1.00.
- Copy machines: First 5copies are free if related to class work, $.05 for each copy after that. Color copies are $.25.
- Laptop checkout: Laptops are available for school-related work and can be checked out overnight with a completed permission form and note from a teacher.
- Book exchange table: Bring in an old book and take home a different one — save money and recycle!
- Popular books and magazines, plus quiet games.
