Blue Ridge High School
Located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, Blue Ridge High School serves over 1,200 students, most of whom live in a rural community. Exhibiting southern hospitality at its best, our community prides itself on its open and welcoming atmosphere. As the school's population has continued to grow, so has our cultural and ethnic diversity, thus illustrating our commitment to educated students from all backgrounds.
Our facility was recently updated (2006), allowing us the opportunity to better serve our students by providing a safe and positive learning environment. Recent updates have allowed us to offer such amenities as newly equipped computer labs, state-of-the-art laboratories, renovated/newly constructed classrooms, and a refurbished cafeteria and auditorium.
The Blue Ridge High School athletic program now boasts an eight-lane rubberized track, enabling us to host championship meet. We also have brand new tennis courts and the seating has been improved for our baseball fields. As a result of these efforts, we now have a fully revamped campus, both inside and out.
In addition to the multi-million dollar construction project, we have recently "refreshed" our technology and the media center. We have been able to furnish our school with much need equipment and books. Our media center received new books totaling over $100,000. This has given our library an average copyright date of 1997.
Other technological improvements to our school include LCD projectors and laptops for each teacher, mobile laptops available for checkout from the media center, printers in every classroom, ETV streamlining for classroom use, and a state-of-the-art television studio with lighting and equipment allowing students to broadcast the news every morning.
Blue Ridge High School offers quality electives to enrich the lives of our students. Our foreign language program is one of the few in the district to offer four years of four different foreign languages. Our fine arts program has been the recipient of numerous awards, including several state championships in band, an award-winning chorus program, drama, and broadcast journalism. We also offer many other electives for our students.
