Mentors Matter Program

Have you heard about the "Mentors Matter" Program at Blythe? This program identifies students who need extra encouragement and support. Volunteers are matched with a student with whom they work with during the school year.  Mentoring programs have been shown to raise student achievement and academic success, along with enhancing student confidence, behavior, and self-esteem. (The Mentor Program is different from the Study Buddy Program which is a tutoring-based program.)  Mentors are asked to commit 30 minutes per week to meet with the student during breakfast or lunch. In addition, all mentors are asked to participate in a one-hour training session to prepare them for their role. If you are interested in volunteering as a mentor this year, please  plan to attend one of the upcoming training sessions (see dates below).  For additional questions, please contact Blythe counselor Claire Barnett. Thank you and we look forward to having you on our team!
