ELIGIBILITY: High school student or college freshman who is accepted to a 4-year, 2-year or vocational college or university. Must demonstrated financial need, have an average of a C or better or rank in the middle fifth of his/her class. Sons or daughters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority members shall not be eligible.

Þ     NINA NEELY SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY CONTEST (Reformed Universal Masonic Brotherhood and Order of the Eastern Star, Inc)

Þ     THE MUSIC CLUB OF GREENVILLE SCHOLARSHIPS

DEADLINE:  March 14                  AMOUNT:  varies

ELIGIBILITY: must be a graduating senior in 2014 planning to major in muscie in college. Audition areas include voice, piano, organ, strings (including guitar), winds, brass and percussion.

REQUIREMENTS:  Complete application, prepare 2 audition pieces (memorized and an accompanist furnished when necessary). Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 29th at the Fine Arts Center. Forms are available online at www.greenvillemusicclub.org . Winners will be asked to perform on May 5th at the Fine Arts Center.

 

 

Þ    SOUTH CAROLINA STATE FAIR RIDE OF YOUR LIFE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

DEADLINE: March 14                AMOUNT: $1,500 (50) renewable

ELIGIBILITY: South Carolina senior planning to continue their education at a 2-year or 4-year South Carolina university, college or technical college.  

REQUIREMENTS: Completed application, transcript, current photograph and an essay on your educational experience in South Carolina **Application online at www.scstatefair.org

 

 

Þ    SPINX FRED ADKINS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE:  March 17th                         AMOUNT:  $1,000

ELIGIBILIGY: Must be a senior with a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale

REQUIREMENTS: Complete an application, Attach a copy of your college acceptance letter, your parents 2013 tax returns OR your SAR report from FAFSA.  Include a current photo of yourself. Photo must be close head shot and suitable for news release. Return scholarship packet to counselor or you may submit to Urban League office by March 24th. See couselor for application.

 

 

Þ    DOROTHY MARRON SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

DEADLINE:  March 21              AMOUNT:  $2,000 (renewable)

ELIGIBILITY: Student and parents must be residents of Greenville County, 3.0 GPA on 4.0 scale, acceptance to college / university, must be pursuing a degree that would lead to a career in overseas service or missionary work, high moral character

REQUIREMENTS: Application, 250-500 word Essay explaining her / his calling to overseas work with the poor and her / his vision for such service to mankind, 3 letters of endorsement on letterhead with contact information (one teacher, one service leader, one from your church leader). See Mrs. Guth for application.

 

Þ    SAM’S CLUB URBAN LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE:  March 17th                         AMOUNT:  $500

ELIGIBILIGY: Must be a senior enrolled in Urban League of the Upstate Project Ready and accepted / enrolling in a 2 or 4 year college fall 2014.

REQUIREMENTS: Complete an application, 500 word essay (2 prompt choices).

 

Þ    BOBBY CHAPMAN JUNIOR GOLF FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE:  March 19 to counselor                 AMOUNT: $1,500 renewable

ELIGIBILITY: Must be accepted and enroll in a college or university fall 2013, be a person of good character, demonstrate leadership capacity and academic promise, and promise to make a positive contribution as a mature citizen, have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Only 2 applications may be submitted from each high school. Student does NOT have to play golf.

REQUIREMENTS: Submit completed application, writing sample (250 words describing one activity with which you were involved in in high school and how it may enhance your college educational experience, high school report form and 2 letters of recommendation from 1. Counselor or Principal and 2. A Family Friend.  See Mrs. Guth for application (must be postmarked by March 21 – only 2 per school)

 

 

Þ    UPSTATE CAROLINA SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE:  March 28th                         AMOUNT:  $2,000

ELIGIBILIGY: Must be a senior with a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and a 3.5 GPA on 4.0 scale in all SCIENCE courses, maintain acceptable behavior

REQUIREMENTS: Complete a short application and answer one of the 3 essay questions in 1000 words or less. See Mrs. Guth for an application. Applications should be returned to counselor.

 

 

Þ     NATIONAL HELP AMERICA SEE LOW VISION SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE:  March 30                  AMOUNT:  $500

ELIGIBILITY: High school students who are considered legally blind and have low vision or are visually impaired, requiring the use of visual aid(s) other than the use of eyeglasses, in their daily life.

REQUIREMENTS:  Scholarship application, Essay, photo of applicant, letter of determination of legally blind status from state or federal government, signed photo release form, copy of college acceptance letter, letter from parent, 3 letters of recommendation. Þ     NATIONAL HELP AMERICA HEAR SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE:  March 30                  AMOUNT:  $500 + 2 hearing aids

ELIGIBILITY: High school students who have a hearing loss which requires the use of hearing aid(s) in their daily life.

REQUIREMENTS:  Scholarship application, Essay, photo of applicant, copy of student’s hearing instruments evaluation within past 3 months, signed photo release form, copy of college acceptance letter, letter from parent, 3 letters of recommendation, copy of student’s complete eye examination, includeing a field of vision test, signed by licensed practitioner. Test must show vision or 2200 acuity corrected or worse in better eye or less than 20 degrees visual field. Visit www.foundationforsightandsound.org for more details.

 

 

Þ    AHAM COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROGRAM

DEADLINE:  March 31               AMOUNT:  $1,000 - $5,000

ELIGIBILITY: Candidates must be of Hispanic origin or descent (only from Spanish speaking countries, first or second generation), have legal status in the USA, be in a public or private high school Class of 2014, and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.  All applicants must be accepted as a full time student at an accredited university, technical college or vocational school in the United States or USA territories for the fall 2014 semester.

REQUIREMENTS: Mail in completed and signed application, Official and sealed high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores, Copy of household income tax return (1040EZ) for the year 2013.  Family income no greater than $ 60,000. A short essay (250 words or less) describing career goals, how they feel about their Hispanic heritage, and ways they would like to help and give back to the community. Letter of acceptance to an accredited university, technical college, or vocational school in the USA or USA territories for the fall 2013 semester. Copy of document showing legal status in the USA. (U.S. passport, green card, residency card, social security card, or driver’s license, etc.) See Mrs. Guth or your counselor for application

 

Þ    JANICE M. SCOTT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

DEADLINE:  March 31                  AMOUNT: $2,500

ELIGIBILIGY: Must be US citizen or permanent resident of US, have a GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale, attend a 4 year university in the US during the Fall 2014 semester, demonstrated leadership abilities through participating in community service and extracurricular activities. Parents combined adjusted income cannot exceed $60,000.

REQUIREMENTS:  Application, Official Transcript, 2 Letters of Recommendation, SAR Report, High school Senior Picture, 500-1000 Word essay describing your planned undergraduate study and how you plan to apply it after graduation OR “Who is your role model and who she/he has influenced/impacted your life. See counselor for application.

 

Þ    DENNY’S HUNGRY FOR EDUCATION URBAN LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE:  April 1st                  AMOUNT:  $1,000

ELIGIBILIGY: Must be enrolled in high school, be a citizen or permanent resident of the US, have a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

REQUIREMENTS:  Go to www.dennyshungryforeducation.com and select the appropriate link to the category that applies to you (High School). Then select the partner organization through which you wish to apply for the scholarship (Urban League of the Upstate). Complete the Denny’s Rewards form (optional). Upon completion, you will be enrolled as a Denny's Rewards member and will automatically receive a FREE Denny's breakfast coupon on your birthday along with other exclusive offers throughout the year.  After completing the Denny’s Rewards sign up, click on the specific HFE partner organization that you are applying for the scholarship from (Urban League of the Upstate) in the dropdown menu at the bottom of the page. You then will be redirected to the partner’s web site to complete the application, including a 300- word essay.

Winners will be announced on the www.dennyshungryforeducation.com in June 2014.

 

Þ    THE GREENVILLE CIVITAN CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE:  April 11                  AMOUNT:  $1,000

ELIGIBILITY:  Member of the Junior Civitan Club in Greenville County, senior planning to attend college in fall 2014, have a minimum 3.0 on 4.0 scale, plan to earn an undergraduate degree in a normal prescribed time.  

REQUIREMENTS:  Complete an application, submit a transcript, SAT/ACT scores, Letter of recommendation on school letterhead and signed by Mr. Noel, Essay about your Junior Civitan experience and how it has affected or will affect your college plans, career goals, or community service goals. See Mrs. Guth for application.

 

 

Þ    J. E. SIRRINE SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE:  April 15                  AMOUNT:  $200 - $2,000

ELIGIBILITY:  High School senior in a Greenville County school and graduates of the past 3 years. 

REQUIREMENTS:  Complete an application found online at https://sirrine.greenville.k12.sc.us , complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov and email / mail in a copy of your SAR report from completing the FAFSA

 

 

Þ    FRED AND MAMIE BOSTIC SCHOLARSHIP LEGACY

DEADLINE:  April 18                              AMOUNT:  $750 (2)

ELIGIBILITY: African American high school graduate with a minimum GPA of 2.5

 

REQUIREMENTS: Completed application, High School Transcript, a copy of your parent(s) / guardian(s) W-2’s for the current year, a completed AS-2 form, Essay of 500 words or more explaining why you are deserving of this scholarship, 3 letters of recommendation from the following individuals 1. Principal / Teacher / Counselor 2. Advisor of Community Organization 3. Pastor / Youth Advisor / Sunday School Teacher, etc.  See Mrs. Guth for application.

 

 

Þ       JEANETTE C. CANNADA / RED RIBBON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

        DEADLINE: May 3                                AMOUNT: $500

ELIGIBILITY: Graduating senior accepted to and planning to attend a higher educational program this fall. Applicants must be leading a tobacco, alcohol and other drug free life. Applicant must have promoted or be participating as a volunteer in community activities for the past 12 months. 

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants will be judged on character, initiative, citizenship, sincerity of purpose and need. Complete an application, 3 “Character Recommendation Reference” forms from minister, youth minister, teacher, counselor neighbor, employer etc. (not a relative or peer) and a handwritten letter stating why choosing to live a tobacco, alcohol and other drug free life is helping you aspire to reach your potential. You may also include student need, qualification for scholarship, educational plans including major and community service projects that you have participated in. Þ    SPARTANBURG METHODIST COLLEGE SCHOLAR PROGRAM

DEADLINE:  apply ASAP  AMOUNT:  full tuition financial aid package (no loans)

REQUIREMENTS:  graduate with a minimum 3.0 gpa (no SAT or class rank standards to be met!!!!), file FAFSA by June 30.  NOTE:  SMC is a 2-year college & only requires a diploma – SMC does not require any specific high school courses.  No loans involved in financial aid package!

 

 

Þ    BMW SCHOLARS PROGRAM / GREENVILLE TECH CO-OP

DEADLINE:  apply ASAP  AMOUNT: Salary for hours worked at BMW (+experience & career)

ELIGIBILITY: graduate with a minimum 2.8 GPA, attend Greenville Tech full time
